Girls and ICT event kit

How to run a Girls and ICTs role models events

Introduction

In 2003, AWE received a grant through the Department of State Development and Innovation's ICT Skills, Training and Role model (i-STAR) program. The grant was used to establish Girls and ICTs local action committees in 8 different locations across Queensland.

Each committee ran local events targeted at parents, teachers and girls. The aims of the events were to raise awareness of the under-representation of women in the ICT industry and to encourage more girls to consider ICT careers and studies.

At the end of 2003, representatives from each committee met to develop a "how to" kit for other areas interested in running similar events. Please find the kit below. We hope that you will find it useful in running your own events.
