Using Street Directories A street directory is a map of land that is viewed from directly above. It shows mainly streets and their names. Like most maps, a street directory has a set of numbers and letters around the border. These help us to locate certain places. |

The map to the left is an example of a street directory. We can use it to find a number of features, such as churches, streets, hospitals, cinemas and cultural features such as museums and art galleries. For example, if the grid reference for Rose Park Primary School is B13, we look up/down the page from B and across the page from 13 to the point where they meet.
